The Innovative Research Journal of Chemical Sciences (IRJChem) is a biannual (January–June and July–December), open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed journal published online by Innovative Research Journals through the Open Journal Systems (OJS 3.4) platform. The journal is dedicated to advancing knowledge across diverse fields of chemical sciences and related applied disciplines.
IRJChem provides a scholarly platform for chemists, researchers, academicians, scientists, industry professionals, and innovators to publish original, high-quality research that contributes to scientific advancement, technological innovation, industrial development, environmental sustainability, and interdisciplinary applications of chemical sciences.

Research Articles
Research Articles are full-length manuscripts reporting complete, original experimental, theoretical, computational, or applied studies in chemical sciences. These manuscripts should present clearly defined research objectives, appropriate methodology, sufficient experimental or computational details, relevant data and analysis, and scientifically supported conclusions. Research Articles should provide a meaningful contribution to the advancement of knowledge in areas such as organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, industrial, environmental, and interdisciplinary chemistry, as well as related areas of chemical sciences.
Review Articles
Review Articles provide comprehensive and critical assessments of existing research and recent developments within a defined area of chemical sciences. Reviews should synthesize relevant and up-to-date literature, identify important developments and emerging trends, critically evaluate existing knowledge, discuss unresolved challenges, and highlight potential directions for future research. Review manuscripts should go beyond a simple summary of published studies and provide a coherent and informative analysis of the field.
Short Communications / Letters
Short Communications / Letters are concise manuscripts reporting significant findings that merit rapid dissemination because of their originality, scientific importance, or relevance to a rapidly developing area of chemical sciences. These submissions may present important preliminary findings, novel observations, new experimental results, significant methodological advances, or other timely contributions. Although concise, they must contain sufficient information to support the reported conclusions and should meet the same standards of scientific rigor and originality as full Research Articles.
Methodologies / Protocols
Methodologies / Protocols describe new, substantially modified, or demonstrably improved experimental techniques, synthetic procedures, analytical methods, computational approaches, or laboratory protocols relevant to chemical sciences. Submissions in this category should provide sufficient detail to enable qualified researchers to understand, evaluate, and, where appropriate, reproduce the proposed methodology. The manuscript should clearly explain the purpose, development or modification of the method, experimental or computational procedures, validation or performance assessment, limitations, and potential applications.
Perspectives / Comments
Perspectives / Comments provide expert viewpoints, critical analyses, forward-looking discussions, or scholarly commentary on emerging topics, important developments, unresolved issues, or previously published work in chemical sciences. Perspectives may identify emerging research directions, discuss significant scientific challenges, or provide informed interpretations of developments in a particular field. Comments may address, clarify, or critically discuss findings presented in previously published articles. Submissions in this category should provide a clear scholarly contribution and should be supported by appropriate references where applicable.
Publication and Online Availability
IRJChem is an online-only journal published through the Open Journal Systems (OJS 3.4) platform and follows an Early View publication approach. Once a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication, its article metadata may be published online, making the article's bibliographic information available to readers and indexing services while the article proceeds through the production process.
Following acceptance, the manuscript undergoes copyediting and production to ensure consistency, clarity, accuracy, and adherence to the journal's publication standards. A final PDF proof (galley proof) is then prepared and sent to all authors for review and approval. The final article PDF will be published online after the galley proof has been reviewed and approved by the authors.
Authors are responsible for carefully checking the galley proof and communicating any necessary corrections to the Editorial Office before final publication. Through its Early View approach, IRJChem seeks to make accepted research available to the scientific community as rapidly as possible while maintaining appropriate editorial and production standards.
Article Publication Charges (APC)
To help cover the costs associated with journal maintenance, website hosting, OJS infrastructure, editorial management, peer-review administration, copyediting, production, digital publication, DOI registration, and other publishing operations, IRJChem charges a nominal Article Processing Charge (APC) of USD 100 after acceptance of the manuscript. The APC is intended solely to support the maintenance and publishing operations of the journal.
Payment of an APC or approval of a waiver does not influence the peer-review process or editorial decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript. Authors from low-income economies, as classified by the World Bank, may request a full APC waiver. Authors wishing to apply for a waiver should submit a request to the Editorial Office at the time of manuscript submission. Waiver requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the quality and scientific merit of the manuscript and the author's country of affiliation.
The World Bank's country classifications are available through the official World Bank country and lending group classifications.
Peer Review Policy
IRJChem follows a double-blind peer-review system, ensuring impartial and rigorous evaluation of manuscripts by qualified experts in relevant areas of chemical sciences. In the double-blind review process, the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from one another to help minimize potential bias and promote objective scholarly evaluation.
Submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment before being considered for external peer review. The assessment may include consideration of the manuscript's scope, originality, scientific quality, ethical compliance, presentation, and suitability for the journal.
Manuscripts considered suitable for peer review are evaluated by qualified experts in the relevant field. The final editorial decision is made by the journal's editorial team based on the peer-review reports, scientific quality, originality, relevance, and overall contribution of the manuscript.
Ethical Standards
IRJChem adheres to internationally recognized principles and best practices in scholarly publishing and research ethics. The journal's editorial and publication ethics framework is guided by the principles and recommendations of:
- Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)
- World Association of Medical Editors (WAME)
- International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), where applicable
- San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA)
Authors, reviewers, editors, and other participants in the publication process are expected to maintain high standards of honesty, transparency, accountability, and research integrity. Detailed submission and publication ethics policies are provided in the journal's Author Guidelines and relevant publication policies.
Plagiarism and AI Content Policy
All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and inappropriate text overlap using Turnitin. As a general editorial guideline, the similarity index should not exceed 18%. However, the similarity score is not, by itself, considered evidence of plagiarism.
The Editorial Office evaluates the nature, sources, extent, and context of any identified similarities before making an editorial decision. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original and that all sources, quotations, data, figures, concepts, and previously published materials are appropriately acknowledged and cited.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools must be responsible and transparent. Authors should disclose the use of AI tools where such tools have been used to generate or substantially modify manuscript content, in accordance with the journal's applicable policy and publication-ethics principles.
AI tools must not be credited as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, or ethical compliance of scholarly work. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of all submitted content, including any material produced or modified with the assistance of AI tools. AI-generated or AI-assisted content may be subject to additional editorial scrutiny where appropriate and in accordance with applicable COPE guidance and publication-ethics principles.
Licensing and Copyright
All articles published by IRJChem are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. Under this license, proper credit must be given to the author(s), and only non-commercial use of the published material is permitted. The license allows sharing, adaptation, and reuse of published content for non-commercial purposes with appropriate attribution.
Authors retain copyright of their work. The journal receives the necessary publishing rights to make the article publicly available, distribute it, preserve it, and facilitate its scholarly dissemination under the applicable license.
Open Access Policy
IRJChem provides immediate open access to all published content. The journal believes that unrestricted access to chemical sciences research accelerates scientific communication, innovation, collaboration, education, industrial development, and technological advancement.
All published articles are freely accessible to readers without subscription or paywall restrictions, subject to the terms of the applicable CC BY-NC 4.0 license.
Early View Publication
IRJChem follows an Early View publication approach to facilitate the rapid dissemination of accepted research. Following formal acceptance and completion of the required editorial and production procedures, an eligible article may be published online before the regular issue is formally compiled.
Early View publication allows researchers, institutions, readers, and indexing services to discover and access newly accepted research at an earlier stage. Articles published through the Early View process receive their Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through Crossref, where applicable, allowing the work to be persistently identified and cited.
Digital Identifiers and Registrations
IRJChem uses Crossref for the registration and assignment of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to its published articles, where applicable. DOIs provide persistent digital identifiers that facilitate the discovery, citation, linking, and long-term accessibility of scholarly publications. Authors are encouraged to use ORCID iDs to ensure accurate attribution and linkage of their scholarly work.
The journal also supports responsible research assessment principles in accordance with the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). Where applicable, the journal and its publishing organization maintain the required registrations and legal documentation with relevant authorities, including the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
Archiving and Indexing
All articles are digitally preserved through the LOCKSS and CLOCKSS preservation networks and hosted on the OJS/PKP platform for secure, long-term access. Articles are also archived in the Innovative Research Journals Publication Library, the institutional repository of Innovative Research Journals. Authors are encouraged to self-archive accepted manuscripts in institutional or subject-specific repositories consistent with the terms of the CC BY-NC 4.0 license and the journal's applicable self-archiving policy.
