AI Policy
IRABCS recognizes that artificial intelligence and generative artificial intelligence tools may assist researchers in certain aspects of manuscript preparation. However, the use of AI must be transparent, responsible, and consistent with principles of research integrity.
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, ethical compliance, and scientific validity of their manuscripts regardless of whether AI tools were used.
AI Authorship
Artificial intelligence tools, including large language models and generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.
AI systems cannot assume responsibility for published content, approve manuscript versions, respond to ethical concerns, or hold accountability for scientific claims.
Acceptable Use of AI Tools
Authors may use AI tools for limited purposes such as improving grammar, language clarity, formatting, translation assistance, or enhancing readability.
The use of AI must not replace the author's intellectual contribution, scientific reasoning, interpretation of results, or responsibility for the research.
Disclosure of AI Use
Authors must disclose substantial use of AI tools during manuscript preparation.
Disclosure should include the name of the AI tool used, the purpose of use, and the extent to which AI contributed to manuscript preparation.
Failure to disclose significant AI assistance may be considered a transparency and integrity concern.
AI Use During Peer Review
Reviewers and editors must protect manuscript confidentiality.
Confidential manuscripts, reviewer reports, and unpublished research information must not be uploaded into publicly available AI systems because doing so may compromise confidentiality and intellectual property protection.
